Life around Coconut Island
A ferry service by a country boat passes by the island in every 20 minutes with children going to school, toddy tapers, fish wenders with their bicycles.
 
 7 to 10 Kettuvalloms - stitched boat, 70 foot long, 30 tons capacity, made with wooden planks joined and stitched together with coconut ropes and painted with cashew nut oil inside and fish oil outside - passes by the island every day with sand collected from the bottom of the backwaters at the opening to the sea.
